52 inch ORDINARY BICYCLE, circa 1880
This ordinary has a tapered backbone with footstep on the left. It is finished in black with traces of red coach lining decoration. The seat mount is sprung steel with leather covered seat pan. The handlebars – with rumble bell- are of the straight type with drop handles to pear shaped turned wooden handles. The brake is lacking. The tapered forks are flattened and the wheel has a crescent rim with solid black rubber tyre. The spokes are radially opposed and adjustable. The hub has cranks with black rubber block pedals and the trailing wheel has a diameter of 17 inches.
