Description

BMW 1975  R75/6  745 cc OHV transverse twin frame # 4023485 engine # 4050376

The /6 series was released at the end of 1973.
The R 50/5, too expensive and too slow to appeal to the youth, got no successor.
The R 60/5 and R 75/5 got it, but the range was expanded upwards with two 900cc models: the touring bike R 90/6 and the sports bike R 90 S.
The technical changes consisted of a five-speed gearbox and disc brakes in the front wheel of the 750 and 900cc models.
The disc brakes were of course hydraulically operated, but the master cylinder was under the tank and was activated from the steering wheel with Bowden cables.
BMW held on to the crankshafts with a 70.6mm stroke, but the crankshafts were changed: the use of heavier metals in the crankshaft cheeks allowed them to have a smaller diameter, making disassembly and assembly easier.
This R 75/6 has the optional double disc front brake and is in good used condition.
