Coventry Machinists’ Company c.1885 “The Universal Club” ordinary
The frame of this Coventry-built 48-inch machine is numbered 38037/48 and it sports 26-inch hooped handlebars, fixed mounting step and leg guard.
The saddle is a rebuilt later item and both wheels have original spoking.
The main bearings appear to be of the plain type and the cranks are slotted.
There’s no brake lever and the acid etched script on the saddle support reads “The Universal Club Coventry Machinists’ Co. Ltd Maker”.
