Description
Norton 1929 model 16 H 490 cc side valve single frame # 36667 engine # 43605
The 16 H engine with dimensions of 79×100 mm had a remarkable production run of no less than 45 years.
Keywords with this design are reliability, robustness and power. Compression ratio is a modest 4.9 :1. Every year a number of improvements were made. Some were technical, others were meant to enhance the machine’s good looks.
This machine was built in late 1929, to 1930 specifications.
For 1930 some improvements to the 16 H were a change of the typical 1929 double barrel silencer to a “ squashed diamond” type with fishtail and the fitting of a neat aluminium casting to cover the valve springs.
This sturdy Norton has been restored some time ago and is a good runner.
