Description

Indian 1929 Scout “Series 101” 596cc side valve V-twin engine # DG 3583 frame # 635169

The “Series 101” Scout is announced in the American motorcycle magazines in March 1928. Many Indian enthusiast consider this model as the best Indian ever built. Stability is such that the machine can easily be steered through a bend by applying knee pressure only, hands in your lap. Contributing to the bike’s amazing stability are a 6 cm longer wheelbase, a ca. 5 cm lower saddle position and a different fork rake and trail, as compared to the earlier models. Another factor is that the powerplant has moved some 7.5 centimetres forward. The more graceful upper frame tube and “teardrop” petrol tank give the new model a sleek appearance and this also contributes to the enthusiastic reception the new model gets with the motorcycle fraternity.
The 101 we present here is a road-registered older restoration. She comes with Corbin 130 km speedo, dashboard with original amp gauge and switch and side stand. Rear view mirror and luggage rack with vintage leather bag are available as well but not mounted.
