Description
Coventry Machinists 50 inch Ordinary Bicycle circa 1878
This interesting cycle has a tapered round backbone with integral ‘folded’ saddle spring and replaced leather Brooks saddle.
There’s a front wheel guard and the front forks are solid.
The wheel has radial spokes and crescent section with solid white rubber tyre and adjustable cranks and pedals.
The straight handlebar with turned pear grips is fitted with a bronze housed twist brake mechanism.
A wire actuates the rear wheel block brake through pulleys and eye-holes.
There’s a side step on the left of the spine and a 21 inch trailing wheel with matching tyre.
